"The conference: "Energize your future" was organized in cooperation with the German chapter of MPI, and was held at Thor Central (Genk). 
It was a day full of interaction, interesting speakers and creative Belgian start-ups.

It was a misty morning when I parked my car on the parking lot just outside Genk. Located in the heart of Flemisch Limburg. Genk is a bit out of the way as far as Belgian cities go. It's a lively place though, with lots of fun and interesting things to visit in the surrounding area. 

Thor Central - the venue fot today's cenference - used to be a major mining site. Recently it was turned into a huge multifunctional event venue, but the spirit of the past still lingers. It seems like Belgium is finally realising its heritage should be protected. Historic buildings that stood empty for the years are not bulldozed anymore, but repurposed into unique venues that can offer something completely different from the usual event space or meeting room. 

When the MPI members started arriving, there were jam sandwishes and cold coffee (luckily served hot by accident) waiting for them. Miner's food. 
Meanwhile, an artist in full mining gear sang us Bob Dylan's North Country Blues. It was an unconventional start for the event, but a fun one non-the-less. 

After all, Thor Central was a perfect fit for the 2018 BE Conference: "Energize your future". Developing a clear customer focus and keeping an eye on industry trends like healthy food options and the creation of a local supplier network will help Thor Central to exploit its potential and be on top of a very competative market."
