On February 1, ZOEF E-steps opened a rental point of electric steps at Thor Park in Genk. With the ZOEF steps, residents and visitors can follow a mapped out route via the inline skate or bicycle route network in order to discover Genk in a hip and environmentally friendly way.
In addition to the electric bicycles and/or inline skates, residents and visitors of Genk can now also discover the city with an E-step. Gunnar Deckers, founder of ZOEF-steps: “We chose Genk because of the unique character of the city.”
Alderman of Tourism Karel Kriekemans: “We are very pleased with the arrival of ZOEF scooters. In this way we offer citizens and tourists the opportunity to discover Genk in a different way.”
Match with Thor park
Thor Park is one of the 9 official gateways to the Hoge Kempen National Park. “In addition, the Thor site stands for innovation and energy, which fits perfectly with the vision of the ZOEF steps” adds Gunnar Deckers. “With the electric step you can discover the unique National Park of 12,000 hectares in an environmentally friendly and innovative way.”
Literally 'right next door', ZOEF is housed in relation to Thor Central. The central main building of the site has been serving as a business meeting and event location since 2017. “We are regularly asked about fun teambuilding or side activities: an exploration of Thor Park or the National Park with an electric step fits perfectly in the range of energetic side activities.” According to Annick Javor, manager of Thor Central.
Collaboration with Syntra
ZOEF appears to be a complementary player for the entire Thor site. Training center SyntraPXL provides its technical training in the nearby T2 campus and was immediately prepared to enter into a partnership.
Jorn Vanhees, responsible for micro e-mobility at SyntraPXL immediately saw a great opportunity: ”There is no possibility to maintain or repair the scooters on loan in the ZOEF shop, but the ultramodern e-mobility lab is a few hundred meters away. If we make that T2 lab available, ZOEF can use it in exchange for practical workshops and didactic material for our students. This is truly a wonderful story where entrepreneurship, creativity and education come together. We are very happy with this!”
